MIRACLE ON THE HUDSON: The incredible story of how a small plane with two airline passengers and their dog survived a large collision between a light aircraft and a cargo plane in flight is being told around the world today. On January 15, US Airways Flight 1549, a light aircraft, an Airbus A320 en route to Charlotte, North Carolina struck several birds just after take off, completely losing electrical power on board. All on board were killed, including the dog, which was not wearing a harness. The surviving passengers, headed for a holiday in Mexico, were given until nine o'clock in the morning to climb aboard the second flight to Mexico City, where they would be rescued. A heroic team of divers eventually recovered the body of the dog and brought it aboard the next available flight to Mexico City.

Despite its amazing tale of survival, it also includes many lessons for pilots, both new and old, as well as the importance of preparedness in the aviation industry. It's always good to be prepared.
As mentioned before, this incident is not the first time that a small plane has crashed in or around Hudson, NJ. There have been several reported close calls over the years, all of them deemed minor and posed no risk to human life. However, as is the case with any accident, the circumstances surrounding MIRACLE ON THE HUDSON became known when the passengers on board became unruly and refused to move the plane and fly home. Though there was nothing that could be done to prevent it from crashing, the lesson was learned, as well as the fear of flying.
